All underage students are required to have a local legal guardian who can be contacted if a student needs to be sent home or to a doctor due to illness or injury. For medical non-emergencies, the student’s emergency contact (a local resident who is 18 years old or older) is notified and the student is sent home or to the doctor. If the student is a minor, their local legal guardian is contacted so that they can take the student to the doctor. For medical emergencies, the Joffrey Ballet School will call an ambulance to transport the student to the hospital. The student’s emergency contact will then be notified. A Joffrey student 18 years or older may serve as a local legal guardian to an underage student and their absence will be excused if they are contacted to take the underage student home or to the doctor.
