Cirque Arts: 

• Option 1: Colored leotards and tight t-shirts permissible. Jazz pants, black tights, or fishnet tights. Only socks are needed.
• Option 2: Jazz pants or other tight, athletic clothing. Only socks are needed.

General Appearance: 

• Jewelry, jeans, buttons and zippers are prohibited for the safety of each dancer.
• Clothes should be tight fitting. No baggy/sloppy clothes or short shorts are permitted.
• Students will not be allowed to be in their street clothes for classes.
• Long hair should be pulled back out of the face.
• General appearance should be tidy. Students should approach each day as if they are preparing for an audition. Form-fitting T-shirts (any colors) that do not expose the midriff should be worn. Leotards and tights are not necessary. Please wear athletic-style pants (any colors) that allow physicality and flexibility. We recommend comfortable, breathable workout clothes that allow a full range of movement, like yoga or dancewear. The skin below your knees should be covered.

It is very common for students to experience blistering on their hands after their first couple days of the program. Have proper gloves ready and any ointments needed to relieve pain from blisters. 

Students will be assigned to a Cirque du Soleil production. Students will focus on elements and have exclusive interaction and access with the performers from the show. An informal showing will take place on Friday and students will also attend their assigned Cirque show during the week. Students DO NOT need to purchase tickets. Family and friends are allowed to purchase tickets to the show that their student is attending. More information about tickets and chaperones will be announced soon.

All students will participate in an informal showing at the end of week.

No parents, guardians or visitors are allowed to be in the building. All students must be dropped off outside, in front of the building entrance.

A completed physical or physician’s note from within the last 12 months is required and should be completed before a dancer begins their selected intensive. If you have a completed physical examination for your dancer from within the last calendar year, you can substitute it in place of the Doctor’s note. The letter must state that the dancer is healthy and physically able to participate in the summer program. This form will be submitted at the student’s program orientation. Las Vegas programs provide meals (breakfast and dinner) for students staying in housing. Lunch is not provided. Students may purchase food daily, have food delivered, or bring/prepare their own food.

We recommend that students pack a healthy lunch and snacks to eat between meals. A cooler bag is suggested for any perishable items. Due to severe food allergies, dancers are not permitted to pack anything with nuts (or nut products) in their lunch. Students will go on a grocery run every Sunday to get groceries for the next week.

Parents are also welcome to drop off meals for their students at the studio.

Joffrey Ballet School offers housing and a meal plan for the Cirque Arts Intensive.

The Administrative team consists of Summer Coordinators and a group of Administrative Assistants who work with the Artistic Directors at the studios. The team facilitates daily operations and handles crises or emergencies should they arise.

Typically, classes are held from 8-5 / 9-6 daily, Monday-Friday only. PLEASE NOTE: Additional rehearsals may be scheduled during performance week and may extend a dancer’s day. (If you are commuting, you can expect your class schedule to begin between 8:30am and 10:30 in the morning.)

Schedules for our intensives are made available the week prior to the program start date. Schedules are posted on the Joffrey website and will be updated every Sunday for the upcoming week. Schedules can be viewed online, and will also be handed out during orientation.

Housing is available for students 12 years and older.

The Residence Hall at University of Nevada, Las Vegas is conveniently located by the airport and is only a short drive from the studios and the famous Las Vegas strip. Our live-in Housing staff are available to students and parents 24 hours a day and assist by providing support and guidance at the dorm and studio. Students can sign up for an escort to and from the studio.

The students will have scheduled meeting times each morning to meet to travel together to the studios. They will also have a scheduled travel group to return to the housing locations for evening check in. Transportation will be provided and escorted by the Joffrey Housing team

Students may request roommates under the following conditions: Roommates must reside in housing for the same period of time and must attend the same intensive. Roommate Requests are $100 per dancer. Please note that although we will make every effort to accommodate requests, it might not always be possible.If we are unable to honor a request, the resident will receive a credit towards their tuition.

The Meal Plan is required for dancers staying in housing. Students will dine on campus in the cafeteria.

Sundays – Saturdays: Breakfast & Dinner

Joffrey Ballet School does not offer Airport Transportation for this intensive.

The Residence Life Department team consists of a group of live-in Resident Advisors (RAs) who rotate duty shifts. The RA on duty can be reached 24/7. The team facilitates daily operations and handles crises or emergencies should they arise. RAs are also available to take students (17 and younger) to the doctor, conduct rounds to ensure health and safety. Our team meets with students to conduct mediations, conflict resolution meetings, friendship introductions and any other situation that students need assistance with.
