Ballet: 


• Option 1: Black leotard, skin tone or pink tights and skin tone or pink ballet slippers, pointe shoes.

Performance: 

• Black and flesh toned socks. Flesh-toned pointe shoes for dancers who are en pointe. Plain leotards (3) in solid red, navy blue and white. Black leggings and black fitted dance/bike shorts.Dancers should secure their hair in a bun with a hair net.

General Appearance:

Students who registered to participate in the performance must attend both weeks (July 7 – July 18). Students will have daily rehearsals, including rehearsals on Saturdays.

No parents, guardians or visitors are allowed to be in the building. All students must be dropped off outside, in front of the building entrance.

A completed physical or physician’s note from within the last 12 months is required and should be completed before a dancer begins their selected intensive. If you have a completed physical examination for your dancer from within the last calendar year, you can substitute it in place of the Doctor’s note. The letter must state that the dancer is healthy and physically able to participate in the summer program. This form will be submitted at the student’s program orientation. Classes are offered Monday – Friday. Students can register for one or two weeks. Two weeks attendance (July 15 – July 26) is required for students who register to participate in performance on Friday July 26. Performance track students will also have rehearsals on Saturday July 20.

The Residence Hall is located on the California State University Long Beach campus. Our live-in Housing staff are available to students and parents 24 hours a day and assist by providing support and guidance at the dorm and studio. Students can sign up for an escort to and from the studio.

Every effort should be made by students to arrive during the designated check-in time. Early check-in will not be available. Students will check in at Parkside North and will be directed to the dorm. Dancers are required to attend in-person orientation after check-in, and will also be preparing their living spaces for the week.

Joffrey Housing staff will provide an escort to/from the dorm on a sign-up basis for all housing students. Students 13 and under will be accompanied by a Joffrey staff member at all times. This includes daily trips to/from the assigned studio. The students will have scheduled meeting times each morning to meet to travel together to the studios. They will also have a scheduled travel group to return to the housing locations for evening check in.

Students may request roommates under the following conditions: Roommates must reside in housing for the same period of time and must attend the same intensive and be assigned to the same group. Please note that although we will make every effort to accommodate requests, it might not always be possible. Roommate Requests are $100 per dancer. If we are unable to honor a request, the resident will receive a credit towards their tuition.

The Meal Plan is required for dancers staying in housing. Students will dine on campus in the cafeteria. Each meal will have a vegetarian option and Vegan and Gluten free items are available. All foods that contain nuts will be clearly identified.

Sundays – Saturdays: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Students will receive their first meal on Sunday evening after they check in and the last meal on Friday morning before they check out.

Provided: Bed sheets, blankets, pillows, toilet paper

• Bedding: Students are allowed to bring mattress toppers/mattress pads.
• Bathroom essentials and toiletries.

• Storage: Hangers and any other desired storage containers.
• Cell Phone: All housing students are required to have a phone with a United States phone number. International students may choose to purchase a “pay as you go” package or turn on their roaming feature.
• Cleaning supplies: Disinfectant/sanitizing/cleaning products, wipes, paper towels, broom, trash bags, laundry detergent, etc. Students will be responsible to keep their apartments clean and tidy during their stay. Joffrey will have some cleaning supplies that students could borrow.

Joffrey Ballet School does not offer Airport Transportation for this intensive.

The Residence Life Department team consists of a group of live-in Resident Advisors (RAs) who rotate duty shifts. The RA on duty can be reached 24/7. The team facilitates daily operations and handles crises or emergencies should they arise. RAs are also available to take students (17 and younger) to the doctor, conduct rounds to ensure health and safety. Our team meets with students to conduct mediations, conflict resolution meetings, friendship introductions and any other situation that students need assistance with.
