Parents are invited into the studio on Monday at 9:00 AM for a brief program orientation.

Weekly schedules for Dance Camps are pre-set by age:

NYC Children’s Dance Camp Ages 3 – 4 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am

NYC Children’s Dance Camp Ages 5 – 7 | 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Supplies required for all dancers:

• A water bottle and snack.
• A yoga mat or large beach towel.
• A paint smock.

Joffrey Ballet School is committed to providing an inclusive environment for all students. Non-gender conforming students, students with religious and cultural considerations and any student needing additional support is welcome to contact us to discuss the dress code. Please contact our Customer Service department with any dress code questions and/or concerns.

Dress Code for female-identifying dancers ages 3 – 5:

• Ballet pink leotard, light pink or skin tone tights and shoes that best match the dancer’s skin tone. Ballet skirts are optional.
• Dancers should secure their hair in a bun with a hair net.

Dress Code for male-identifying dancers ages 3 – 5:

• White T-shirt, black footed tights, black socks, black ballet slippers.
• Dancers with hair longer than their collar should secure their hair in a ponytail.

Dress Code for female-identifying dancers ages 6 – 7:

• Lavender leotard, light pink or skin tone tights and shoes that best match the dancer’s skin tone. Ballet skirts are optional.
• Dancers should secure their hair in a bun with a hair net.

• White T-shirt, black footed tights, black socks, black ballet slippers.

There will be no performance for NYC Dance Camps.

Parents/Guardians should escort their dancer to the 4th floor (via the elevator) and drop off their dancer at the Studio 4 door. The escort must then exit the building immediately. Pick up follows the same process. Please do not arrive for Drop off and Pick up more than 15 minutes prior to the start or ending time for the Camp.

At this time students are not required to wear a mask for the 2023 summer intensives in NYC. Students will be required to wear a mask (for a set amount of days) if they are identified as a close contact for a COVID-19 case.

At this time, all in-person students will be required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR, Rapid test or proctored Home Test, administered within 4 days before arrival at our dorms or the student’s start date at an intensive. Students will be sent a link 1 week prior to their specific start date where test results may be uploaded within the 4-day window. (Deadline for test submission is 5 pm the day prior to arrival.)

At this time, dancers are not required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to participate in the summer intensives.

Students will be required to provide their vaccination status. If students are vaccinated against COVID-19, they will be required to submit their vaccination card.

A completed physical or physician’s note from within the last 12 months is required and should be completed before a dancer begins their selected intensive. If you have a completed physical examination for your dancer from within the last calendar year, you can substitute it in place of the Doctor’s note. The letter must state that the dancer is healthy and physically able to participate in the summer program. This form will be submitted at the student’s program orientation. The Administrative team consists of Summer Coordinators, Office Managers and a group of Administrative Assistants who work with the Director of Operations and Artistic Directors at the studios. The team facilitates daily operations and handles crises or emergencies should they arise.

All of our summer interns take part in a robust selection process that includes a formal application, one-on-one interviews, group evaluations and background checks. Most of our interns are currently attending university or have graduated. All candidates must have a dance background or share an appreciation for performing arts.

There are three studio locations for our NYC intensives. Studio assignments are not finalized until just prior to the intensive start date. We are unable to take requests for specific studio assignments.

HOUSING STUDENTS: Dancers staying in Joffrey housing have access to Joffrey staff to guide them to/from classes each day from our housing facilities. Students will travel using the subway/public transportation.

COMMUTER STUDENTS: We recommend Midtown if you are looking for alternate lodging as all studios are easily accessible from that area.

If a dancer is assigned to Joffrey Ballet School, you will need access to the A, C, or E (Blue) subway lines. Nearest stop: West 4 Street/Washington Square station.

If a dancer is assigned to Joffrey Dance Center, you will need access to the 7 (Purple) Express subway line. Nearest stop: Hunter’s Point Avenue station.

If a dancer is assigned to Pearl Studios, you will need access to the A, C, or E (Blue) subway lines. Nearest stop: 34 St/Penn Station.

Typically, classes are held from 8-5 / 9-6 EST daily, Monday-Friday only. PLEASE NOTE: Additional rehearsals may be scheduled during performance week and may extend a dancer’s day. If you are commuting, you can expect your class schedule to begin between 8:30 am and 10:30 am in the morning and end by 6:00 pm.

Schedules for our intensives are made available the week prior to the program start date. Schedules are posted on the Joffrey website and will be updated every Sunday for the upcoming week. Schedules can be viewed online, and will also be handed out during orientation.
