Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino founded the Joffrey Ballet School in 1953.
The school continues to strive for its founders’ vision by deconstructing dance to allow dancers the ability to perfect their technique and form so it flows naturally and passionately from within. Joffrey Ballet School cultivates the individual artist within you.

Ages 2–7 | September – MayWe make dance fun while learning. Classical Ballet classes beginning at age 2 and building to age 7. The curriculum was created to encourage age appropriate creativity, musicality, and physicality. Your child will dance and have fun with an emphasis on the foundations of ballet. Youth Ballet
Ages 8–18 | September – MayThe learning experience elevates the ballet tradition embracing both the fun and discipline of dance. The dancer will learn dance terms and the building blocks of movement to progress onto more advanced levels of dance training. Music makes this learning environment unforgettable, enriching and fun.
Pre-Professional Trainee Program
Ages 13–25 | September – JuneJoffrey Ballet School offers a year-round training ground for pre-professional artists in a multitude of dance disciplines. You have the choice of study at Joffrey Ballet School, either Ballet or Jazz & Contemporary. The goal is to train dancers to work professionally, but most of the top ballet schools around the country do not have this vast range in training. They are focused primarily on a single discipline, and at Joffrey Ballet School we recognize the need for versatility.

Open Classes
All Ages | Year RoundThe Joffrey Ballet School Open Classes Program are fun friendly walk-in dance/exercise classes from 60 to 90 minutes in length. We offer Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Pilates/Stretch classes. They are for dancers ages 16 and up and for any active adult of all ages.

Pre-Professional | Year Round Performance CompanyThe Joffrey Concert Group was founded by Robert Joffrey in 1981 and is currently led by Artistic Director Bradley Shelver. As the resident dance company of the Joffrey Ballet School, this pre-professional performing ensemble provides young artists from the School’s year-round Trainee Program the opportunity to experience life as a professional dancer.
