Anthony Wade Jr, MFA
Anthony Wade Jr was born in Wilmington, Delaware, where he began training at the Anna
Marie Dance Studio at 7. Wade elevated his training at 16 when he moved to Fort Worth,
Texas, and began attending Arlington Heights High School’s dance department, founded by
Elizabeth Gillaspy under the direction of Joy Bollinger, Rachel Wade, and Hanna Requa. After
Wade graduated from high school, he decided to pursue his dream of dance and choreography.
Wade attended Tarrant County College and was a part of their dance company, Continuum
Dance, under the direction of Kiera Amison. While attending Tarrant County College, Wade also
became a founding member of the Terrance M. Johnson Dance Project, a Dallas-based
company, where he danced for two years. After completing his training at Tarrant County
College, Wade transferred to Texas Christian University’s School of Classical & Contemporary
Dance, where he obtained a BFA as a double dance degree in Ballet and Modern Dance. While
pursuing his degree, Wade was also invited to be a performing company member of B. MOORE
DANCE, a Dallas-based company, where he has toured across the country and has performed in
many works for the past five years. Wade continues to dance with this company. He has been
the recipient of full scholarships to Joffrey School of Ballet’s summer intensive, where he
studied under the direction of Desmond Richardson. After completing his undergraduate
degree, he moved to London, England, to complete his master’s program at the University of
Roehampton where he obtained an MFA in Choreography. Wade has had the opportunity to set
works both nationally and internationally.
