BRIANA REED (St. Petersburg, FL.) began her dance training at The Academy of Ballet Arts
with Suzanne Pomerantzeff. Ms. Reed continued her studies at The Pinellas County Center for
the Arts at Gibbs High School under the direction of Reginald Yates. Ms Reed trained during
the summer at The Ailey School as a scholarship student. In high school, Ms. Reed performed
with Dundu Dole Urban African Ballet a traditional West African dance company under the
direction of Jai Hinson. Ms. Reed received a full scholarship to study at The Juilliard School.
Upon graduation she was offered a spot in Ailey II, a year later Ms. Reed auditioned and was
accepted into The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater where she performed as a Principal
Dancer for sixteen seasons and has danced on five continents. Ms. Reed was honored to
perform at The White House in tribute to Judith Jamison, in 2013 First Lady Michelle Obama
invited her to speak to the mentees of the White House Leadership and Mentoring Initiative at
the Kennedy Center. Ms. Reed is a two-time recipient of the Key to the City of St. Petersburg,
FL. Ms. Reed is an ABT ® Affiliate Teacher. Ms. Reed has been honored to perform on Good
Morning America, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Carmen and Geoffrey Documentary, Mercedes
Benz Fashion Week for designer Tracy Reese, NETFLIX The Get Down, MTV VMAs with
Beyoncé and Saturday Night Live. Ms. Reed’s choreography credits include: Camerata NYC
Dance Festival, Tonya Pinkins Womyn Working It Out at The Tank NYC, Steps Summer Study,
Tonya Pinkins Little Island Residency, Western Washington University social justice residency,
Bat Boy The Musical at Aaron Davis Hall CCNY and As You Like It Molly University; Associate
Choreographer for Cinderella for Theatre By the Sea’s 2022 season, Associate Choreographer
for The Wiz at the Fulton Theatre and New Bedford Festival Theatre 2023 season, Artist Faculty
at Jacob’s Pillow for The Dunham Legacy Program. Ms. Reed currently teaches in New York
City.
