Caine Keenan (he/him) is a Connecticut native, born and raised in New England until he ventured into NYC for college. Caine had the incredible opportunity to attend New York University’s Tisch School of Arts, graduating amongst some of the strongest dancers and creatives in our industry. From Manhattan, Caine went on to dance in the recreations of the works of Alwin Nikolais and became a soloist for many classical pieces in dance history. He moved to Salt Lake CIty, UT, to join the Ririe Woodbury Dance Company under Artistic Director Charlotte Boye-Christensen. While in RWDC, Caine had the chance to learn more pieces by Nikolais, as well as dance the repertory of Wayne Macgregor, Doug Varone, Karole Amitage, Douglas Nielsen, Bill T Jones, Susan Marshall, and founders Joan Woodbury and Shirley Ririe. It was while in SLC that Caine was able to develop his own artistic and choreographic voice, building the high school program for RWDC and creating new works on many schools across the state of Utah.
Caine’s dream as a young dancer was to always work for Cirque du Soleil, so in 2011 he moved to Vegas in the hopes of landing a dance role in one of their incredible production shows. In 2013, he was lucky enough to land in the role as the “Green Lizard” in Mystère, and has been crawling around the stage for over a decade. In his tenure with Cirque, Caine has also performed in several “One Night for One Drop” concerts, and been both a dancer and choreographer in the collaborations with Nevada Ballet Theater for “A Choreographers’ Showcase.” Mr Keenan has also spent his entire time here in Vegas teaching at The Dance Zone, under the direction of Jami Artiga and Kaydee Francis, and introduces young artists ages 5-18 to the love of dance and the creative process as he makes a new and original story ballet every year for the studio (this year was his 13th!!).
