Gabe Katz
Gabe Katz is a multimedia artist, dancer, choreographer, educator, and graduate of Marymount Manhattan College Class of 2018, receiving his BFA in dance and a minor in studio art. He recently completed one year with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s Professional Training Program, HSPro, under the direction of Alexandra Wells. Gabe has performed work and repertoire by choreographers such as Ohad Naharin, Sonya Tayeh, Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz of MADBOOTS DANCE, Adam Barruch, Jenn Freeman, Larry Keigwin, and Robert Battle, Ryan Mason, and Rena Butler, and is a company member of Hivewild in NYC. He has attended multiple Gaga Intensives in NYC and Tel Aviv, and was in the first ever Gaga Program at The School at Jacob’s Pillow in 2018. Katz can be found in a 2019 GAP denim commercial, and as a featured dancer in Sir Paul McCartney’s music video Who Cares?, choreographed by two-time Grammy nominated choreographer Ryan Heffington. Gabe was named Joffrey Ballet School’s first “Emerging Choreographer” in 2018 with the restaging of his work entitled hmm, and returned in 2020 to create a new dance film with the Joffrey Trainees entitled Armour of Shells in collaboration with composer Lucy Yao. During his time in Chicago, Katz created a new work, A Sense of Humor, and presented it at The Studebaker Theater. With his background in visual art, he has collaborated on and directed various short dance films since 2018. Teaching since 2013, Gabe has shared his passion for the art form throughout the country in addition to being on faculty at intensives such as The Joffrey Ballet School NYC Jazz and Contemporary Intensive: SPECTRUM, The Dance Sessions, and Dance Device Lab.
