Jessica Bashline
Jessica is an Assistant Professor of Theater at the University of Miami, where she teaches acting, directing and theater creation. She was the Artistic Director and co-founder of Strange Sun Theater, a theater company in New York City dedicated to creating magical new theater that ignites in audiences and artists, the power of possibility. Before that, she was a professor at NYU and served as the Artistic Director of Wingspan Arts, an arts education company in New York City. Additionally, she is the co-founder of Refinery Arts Group, a consulting group focused on helping arts organizations thrive.
Jessica is a theater artist, working as a playwright, director, and performer. She won the United Solo Festival “Best Storyteller” Award in 2023, for a solo piece developed in collaboration with American Theater Northwest and Syracuse Stage. Her plays are available at Next Stage Press, as well as New Play Exchange. Jessica’s work has been seen all over the country. She has received awards and fellowships for her work from the Drama League, SDC, NYU, UM, Miami Dade Cultural Council, among others. She is a member of Actor’s Equity, the Dramatist Guild and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers.
