Lana Fuqua
Lana Fuqua currently serves as the Children’s & Youth Ballet Program Coordinator and Registrar for Joffrey Ballet School, in addition to Program Coordinator for Joffrey Miami and a variety of their New York intensives. She is a summa cum laude graduate of The University of Alabama where she received a B.A. in Dance and Communication Studies with Honors. During her tenure at UA, she received various awards for her academic accomplishments and service to the school including the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Premiere Award, Dean’s Merit Award, and Lou Wall Award. Prior to and during her collegiate career, Lana trained and performed with Alabama Dance Works, Southeast Alabama Community Theatre, American Musical & Dramatic Academy, Yonder Contemporary Dance Company, Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre, and Dance Alabama!.
Prior to moving to New York, Lana previously worked with BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance and Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education to develop and coordinate their dance programming. She is dedicated to providing equitable and accessible dance opportunities to diverse populations and continues her work in DEI initiatives within the arts. In her work with Joffrey, she has managed their new Arts in Education Outreach program, alongside Artistic Director, Jo Matos. Partnering with schools across Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn, she is proud to have received funding from the Ford Foundation and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council in support of these outreach efforts.
