Terrance Thomas
Terrance Thomas of Waterloo, IA has always had a passion for the arts predominantly in music
and dance. Thomas completed a BA in Music Business and Vocal Performance with a minor in
Dance at Columbia College Chicago. His first leadership role was Drill Team Commander for
the Lord’s Warriors Drill Team of Waterloo, IA at the age of 14. He also created the first step
team for Waterloo West High in 2002. In college, he began studying African Dance under
Professor Malik Camara of the Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago, IL. Thomas then moved to
Dallas, TX where he joined Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble in 2012. Since, he
has served as an active member, choreographer, teacher for community classes, and now as
the artistic director for the company. He has been able to expand his learning by attending
African drum dance conferences throughout the country that have been led by various members
of the National Ballet of Guinea.
